Growing up in a house filled with music, where family gatherings centered around sing alongs and songs from the Grand ole’ Opry filled the house. Jake Henley received his first acoustic guitar at the age of five. Growing up, Henley felt the singer song writing of Waylon Jennings, Hank Snow and homegrown Canadians Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young spoke to him. Story telling at its best that painted the pictures better than movies could. This six-string slinger draws on his personal experiences to create honest and truthful songs from his unapologetic self. Songs that range from stripped down acoustic ballads to fully backed outlaw country numbers. Through his songs, Henley pays homage to those who inspired him while growing up. Written during the winter months over a few weeks at a cabin in Northern Ontario. These songs pull from years of pocketed experiences during his time living abroad and travelling to day-to-day life encounters.
